Zoo
History
The Zoo in Bitola was established more than 60 years ago, precisely in1950, to serve the purpose of educating the population and protecting certain animal species. The Bitola Zoo currently houses about 35 species of animals, totaling approximately 300 animals.
The animals in the Zoo are the foundation of the reconstruction project, emphasizing the need for the collection to include specific, attractive, rare, and authentic animals that will provide visitors with an extraordinary experience during their zoo visit.
About
The role of animal habitats, their design, content, safety, and the way animals are displayed are undeniably important for the functioning of the Zoo. As the drafters of the technical documentation for the Zoo, we have planned a layout of habitats that align with the natural instincts of the Garden's inhabitants.
The technical documentation for the reconstruction includes the following contents:
- Spatial, traffic, and floor arrangement, external installations and connections, necessary fencing of the complex, planned entrances, paths, and horticultural arrangements.
- Habitats for lions, tigers, bears, leopards, lynxes, monkeys, ungulates, wolves, sea lions, giraffes, raccoons, nutrias, foxes, badgers, meerkats, hippos, lemurs, as well as a farm with authentic Macedonian animals, an ethnic house, a terrarium, and areas for birds, macaws, cockatoos, and flamingos.
- Administrative-service area with an administrative building, ticket office, guardhouse, toilets, and service area.
- Multipurpose space with an educational center, souvenir shop, recreational lookout, children's park, theme complex, and restaurant.
